Discover Twenty-Nine Latest Game Cards from Magic's TMNT Expansion (Featuring a Commander Precon Deck!)
Everyone's beloved pizza-eating superheroes are making their way to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's company, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a exclusive event held at NYCC. Is this a radical addition or yet another crossover cash grab? We'll let you be the judge.
Take a look here at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including key background. Everything mentioned here launches on March 6, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27.
Magic x TMNT: Main Set Cards
Before diving into the many unique products and bundles on offer, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters should run $37.99 per pack.
Let's unpack a couple of surprising details. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak Attack, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where gamers can cheat big creatures onto the game field whenever an attacker isn’t blocked. The key change in this case is that this new ability can affect spells that aren’t creatures too. The designers also took the opportunity to clean up the ability a little (It counts as playing a spell, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely we'll see the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.
Should we were to return to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu since that's where it originated and it’s a hallmark to that,” an experienced game designer explained. “However in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be Standard-legal, it's more likely that we'd use Sneak.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four special cards with special art created exclusively for the set by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.
Oh, and, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play game cards outside of your deck, many players were. But according to Wizards, that's now a official card in every format of Magic.
In any case, below are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:
As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers state they took care to ensure the cards and mechanics worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it would be in standard and which sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” the designer says. “We designed to make sure that they work well with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”
For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red strategy focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to offer the pieces for a enjoyable Standard deck,” the designer added.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
After declining to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander depending on how you pair them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command zone rather than only one). Take a look for yourself:
The Turtle Power deck is priced at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on popularity. Wizards indicated that it contains 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an additional thirty-seven TMNT-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary creatures shown above. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprints if we assume the deck includes 37 lands.)
What will the Turtles edition of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)
As per usual, the company is offering a collection. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the listed items:
- 9 Play Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
- Fifteen Regular basic lands
- 2 helper cards
- One Foil promotional card
- One Oversized life tracker
- 1 Card-storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the items below:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- One Collector Booster
- 25 Regular pizza-themed lands
- 5 Traditional foil pizza basic lands
- 2 Foil pizza bundle promo cards
- 2 Reference cards
- 1 Large life tracker
- 1 storage box
For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card with brand-new TMNT art. The team revealed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces on a pizza slice. In total, there are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards available.
This special bundle releases a few weeks after the main set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Night
This special bundle is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
- Twelve Standard Boosters (ideal for four people to draft)
- 1 Premium Booster (aka, the prize for winning)
- 90 Regular basic lands (for building your deck)
- 10 Regular double-sided tokens
- One drafting guide (a single-page guide to drafting the set)
Cooperative Play Set
Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to develop Magic products aimed at beginners. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that let you and a friend join forces against a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.
