"Getting closer to the scene, the temperature rises and you can sense it, with the fumes being very heavy."

Young scholar an eyewitness was among the countless people attracted to the location of a deadly inferno that swept through much of the eight-building housing complex in Hong Kong's Tai Po area.

At least over three dozen individuals have perished in the recent catastrophic fire so far, with many still missing, indicating that this count will possibly rise.

"We're facing a tragedy," Thomas stated about the blaze, mentioning that he had witnessed a deceased person being removed from the area.

More than a one thousand further individuals were compelled to leave the complex as the fire advanced, with many going to established facilities that have been organized to house them.

The blaze is slowly being contained, but officials state they cannot determine when it will be completely eliminated.

Flames could be observed emanating from specific homes as many people looked on in silence.

"I'm overwhelmed. There are so numerous neighbors and community members. I do not know what is happening any longer. Look, all the apartments are just on fire. I cannot determine what to achieve. I hope the government can assist us to find stability after this."

A local woman mentioned that her neighbors dwell inside the structure and she was remaining to hear if they were able to evacuate.

An elderly inhabitant, who has dwelled in building number two of the residential estate for more than four decades years, mentioned hearing "a tremendous explosion" and observing flames erupt in a nearby building.

"I promptly went to my apartment to pack up my belongings," the 66-year-old occupant stated.

"I don't even know how I feel currently. I'm just pondering about where I'm going to stay tonight because I almost certainly won't be able to go back home."

Although the source of the inferno that consumed the multiple tall buildings continues to be unknown, the blaze are believed to have quickly advanced through the construction framework that enveloped the complexes, which were undergoing renovations.

Several people have voiced outrage that such a significant fire could have happened and challenged the reaction.

"During there's a forest fire, they will employ helicopters and release water bombs, but why is there zero response and how can they allow additional complexes on fire?" questioned a different resident of Wang Fuk Court.

"This area is so close to the emergency response center and we believed the blaze could be extinguished quickly, but currently the flames has expanded. I'm so disappointed," she explained.

The woman mentioned that she had been offered little guidance from the local administration on where to find help.

Multiple local residents had delivered necessities to the affected individuals - consisting of many of warm layers and thermal aids.

Upon questioning about their emotions regarding the tragedy, locals voiced that "local administration is unprepared" and that they were "profoundly devastated".

"We desire not to witness any further fatalities," said a resident.

An older lady who resides in one of the affected buildings mentioned she was not at home when the fire broke out but that she is concerned about her apartment because it is uninsured.

"I'm profoundly troubled that I have nowhere to go to at present," she remarked.
