New England Match Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores in the present year

New England matched their best victory streak since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019

QB Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The triumph increases the New England's lead at the top of the division as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses

The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to conclude the New York's opening drive

But the Patriots answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7

"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be great."

Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
