Thousands Attend Pro-Palestine Demonstrations as Organisers Promise to Keep Protesting

Tens of thousands gathered in various Australian cities at pro-Palestinian protests, with organizers vowing to continue protesting after a ceasefire deal brokered by the American leader in Gaza seemed to be taking effect.

Sydney Demonstration Draws Large Crowd

In Sydney, the activist collective announced thirty thousand participants had marched from Hyde Park to Belmore Park in the central business district after a scheduled protest to the famous building was restricted by the New South Wales court of appeal recently.

Local authorities approximated 8,000 people participated in the city demonstration, with a representative saying there had been "peaceful proceedings".

Nationwide Demonstrations Remember Occasion

Rallies were also organized in Melbourne, Queensland's capital and Perth on Sunday to remember two years of killing in Gaza after armed incidents on October 7th, 2023 killed about 1,200 people in the neighboring country.

"Concerning the protest efforts, we'll absolutely continue to protest for a free Palestine... for self-determination in Gaza, for aid to be allowed in and for locals to reconstruct their homes," stated one organiser.

Varied Responses to Ceasefire Agreement

Many protesters shared confidence that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Several expressed concerns of Trump's involvement and urged supporters to keep pressuring the federal leadership to impose restrictions and end the trade in military goods.

A participant, a local with Palestinian heritage based in Australia, said he hoped the deal might enable him to bring his elderly mother, who is still in Gaza without access to medical care, to the country, and to find and bury his sibling, his wife and their kids, who have been lost contact in 2023.

Jewish Community Conducts Service

In another development, numerous people participated in a Jewish memorial service on that night in the city's eastern areas to mark the second anniversary of the October attacks. One speaker, the family member of someone affected, an local resident who was killed during the attacks, was planned to address.

There were hopes for soon return of 20 remaining hostages in the region and those killed on 7 October. The diplomatic representative, Amir Maimon, paid tribute to the determination of those affected. The audience expressed disapproval when he referenced the Australian prime minister and the international relations official.

Maritime Protesters Relate Stories

The city's demonstration earlier featured addresses including four Australians freed from custody after the stopping of the protest boats recently.

One activist, his injured limb after it was allegedly dislocated in an incarceration center, informed that insufficient information was available about the peace agreement. International aid organisations, including humanitarian bodies, were organizing to reach the region.

"As long as there is a situation where there's a severe and prohibited barrier on Gaza," commented the participant, flotilla activists would keep working to bring support through maritime routes.

Another participant, who arrived home on the end of the week, gave an heartfelt address recounting his imprisonment with 83 other men in Israel's Ketziot prison.

Leadership Remarks

The NSW Greens MP the legislator told the crowd: "We cannot let a world where Trump determines the destiny of Palestinians to be the type of reality we accept."

A different coordinator who filed the initial request to demonstrate at the famous location claimed that the participants could have peacefully gone to the famous harbourside venue. The law enforcement official had earlier informed the court of appeal that the proposal seemed problematic.

The organiser said on Sunday: "On each occasion the police attempt to oppose our rallies or take us to the supreme court, it wakes up a lot of people... to the need to mobilise and oppose such actions."
